OUR SERVICES

The Hawai'i Island Home for Recovery, Inc. (HIHR) Program has been established as transitional and permanent supportive housing programs with single occupancy rooms to persons who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness.

HIHR has adopted the Housing First model in order to reduce the barriers for program entry.

The Housing First model is guided by the belief that people need necessities like a place to live before attending to anything less critical, such as getting a job, budgeting properly, or attending to substance use issues.

Housing First is based on the theory that client choice is valuable in housing selection and supportive participation, and that exercising that choice is likely to result in more successful results and improve their housing stability.

We provide case management and work with the continuum of contracted and non-contracted community services which support goals that include your input to help you succeed and maintain a lifestyle that promotes your well-being and housing stability. These services support you with your goals that work towards your independence and becoming a productive member of society using evidence-based interventions aimed at enhancing your overall well-being.
