HIHR was founded on the principle that shelter is a basic human right, and we work hard every day to provide transitional and permanent supportive housing solutions to the people who need them most through our Housing First system.

We are represented by the humble hermit crab, because hermit crabs are an organism whose homes are constantly in transition - they don't grow their own shells, rather as they grow and change, they find homes that suit their needs best and make them work.
